The fabric draws inspiration from traditional Japanese Kinran brocade, a textile technique historically made by weaving patterns with threads created from finely cut gold-leaf paper. This cover adapts the traditional textile approach into a simple, practical planner cover.
The fabric is sourced by yuge fabric farm, a craft and textile shop established by ENIMA DESIGN. Through its “Fabric Rescue” initiative, yuge fabric farm discovers unused and deadstock fabrics from Japan and overseas and gives them new life as materials for contemporary creations. The fabric used for this planner cover was recovered from a factory in Hiroshima.
The geometric pattern resembles stone walls and is known as Ishigaki-mon or Kagome-mon. The origin and symbolism of the Kagome pattern have been interpreted in various ways, giving the traditional motif an intriguing history. The fabric was specially developed for use in kimono and obi textiles and features a subdued gray tone that works well with a wide range of styles.
A pen hook secures a pen by its clip and keeps the cover's silhouette clean when closed. The interior is finished in black, with the yuge fabric farm logo placed on the left side.
Two ribbon bookmarks in different widths are included, allowing you to use them to distinguish between different purposes, such as personal and business planning. The bookmarks are finished in black to match the interior, and no decorative charms are added for a clean, minimalist look.
