Hobonichi Techo Kyohei Sakaguchi Hatake no Sora Planner Cover 2027

The Hobonichi Techo 2027 planner cover features Hatake no Sora, a pastel painting by Japanese artist Kyohei Sakaguchi.

Sakaguchi began growing vegetables at a rented farm in Kumamoto in 2020. Along the way to the farm and while working in the fields, he photographs the landscapes he encounters and uses those images as inspiration for his pastel paintings.

Hatake no Sora was painted on October 17, 2021. It captures a clear autumn sky, with pale blue tones and white clouds rising through the dry air. Deep green trees and strong branches reaching across the open sky convey the vitality of the natural landscape.

The artwork is spread generously across the cover, creating a spacious view of the sky and surrounding fields. Although the printed image appears highly detailed, looking closely reveals the powdery texture of pastel and the marks created by rubbing and layering the medium by hand.

To preserve the character of the original artwork, the design is printed on finely textured polyester fabric. The interior uses white synthetic leather reminiscent of the paper used for pastel paintings, while the bookmark has a soft light gray tone. The butterfly-style pen holder also features a detail taken from the artwork.

With an image of the sky on the cover and another view waiting inside, this planner cover brings a refreshing sense of nature into everyday planning and journaling.

About Kyohei Sakaguchi

Kyohei Sakaguchi was born in Kumamoto, Japan, in 1978 and graduated from the Department of Architecture at Waseda University in 2001. He works across multiple creative fields, including writing, painting, music, photography, and architecture.

His artistic practice is characterized by his continued exploration of different forms of creative expression, including pastel paintings inspired by the landscapes and everyday scenes around him.
