The Hobonichi Techo 2027 Unsodo Bijutsu-kai “Ume and Nadeshiko” A6 Planner Cover features an elegant Japanese floral design inspired by Bijutsu-kai, a historic collection of decorative art patterns published during the Meiji era.
The Bijutsu-kai and Shin Bijutsu-kai collections brought together beautiful decorative designs by Japanese pattern designers, painters, and skilled artists. The original books were produced using multicolor Japanese woodblock printing by Unsodo (芸艸堂), a Kyoto-based art publisher known for traditional Japanese woodblock-printed art books.
Ume and Nadeshiko Floral Design
The front of the cover features delicate nadeshiko flowers in a rich pink tone, paired with fresh green leaves against a warm ivory patterned background.
The soft outlines and subtle variations in color reflect the distinctive character of traditional hand-printed Japanese woodblock artwork, giving the design a natural and artistic appearance.
The lower section features elegant white plum blossoms, including unopened buds and fully opened flowers. Pale purple accents complement both the plum and nadeshiko motifs.
Decorative Pocket Design
The rear pocket offers a more colorful contrast to the understated front design. It features a repeating pattern of large peony flowers surrounded by butterflies, arranged in an orderly composition with a decorative effect reminiscent of a kaleidoscope.
The two exterior patterns are based on a single original design. The paired motifs were originally presented on facing pages of the Bijutsu-kai collection and have been arranged across the front and back of the planner cover.
Interior Details
The interior is finished in a calm light beige tone. The butterfly stopper, inner pocket, and bookmark are accented in pale purple to coordinate with the floral artwork.
The bookmark features a small decorative charm in a purple tone that complements the cover.
